"P'easure t'meetcha, too, Jubal," Mizu replied, beginning to spin in circles.

OOC: right...um...
Lazuli smiled awkwardly at the mysteriously childish mare who'd introduced herself as Mizu. He was quite unsure of how to handle such an equine. Instead, he bowed quickly and turned back to the dam and colt.
You realize that much could happen to you or even your foal if you remain out here in this untamed wilderness, no? Surely you would prefer the protection and affection of a stag?
Lazuli dared to step closer, nuzzling the ess gently on her wither and snuffling from his nares.
And I'm the first, apparently, willing to offer you just that, no?

Grinning playfully, Jubal began dancing circles about Mizu as the blue mare spun in circles.
Arian's pricked ears swivelled in Lazuli's direction as he spoke, though she kept an eye on her colt. At his first sentence, her ears pinned back against her finely chiselled head. Was he threatening her son? It made no difference if he were to threaten her, but his wording seemed to the protective mother a threat to her colt.
The thoroughbred relaxed marginally at his next sentence, realizing that the first was meant to be a prelude to his attempts to convince her how dangerous it was for a lone mare and her colt. She realized that well, but she also knew the dangers a stallion could pose to a colt who was not his own. So far Lazuli had made no attempt to harm Jubal, and Arian had every intention of seeing to it that things stayed that way.
Arian's ears flattened slightly at his touch. The last stallion to touch her had been Jubal's sire. She'd been foolish and allowed her heart to overcome logic; and paid dearly for her folly. The thoroughbred had no intention of allowing such to happen ever again. Arianrhod was no fool; she knew what this stallion wanted. Sugar-coated his words might seem, but she knew. He was out to gather a harem; looking for mares to bear him many foals. Arian was not entirely convinced that she wanted to take part in such a relationship.
When she spoke, the thoroughbred's tone was cool and remote. 'You are the first.' she responded.

Mizu laughed, and stopped, now very dizzy. She now had at least three friends, mabye more. It was fun having friends!

The blue stallion looked dismayed at the ess's speech.
Your tone tells me you wouldn't trust a stag to protect you two, he replied simply.
He backed respectfully as the mare flattened her auds, realizing she wasn't at all comforted by his speech. At this, the stag was disappointed. Pushing her wasn't an option, so he'd have to keep his distance if he was going to get this prize.

'Perhaps it is because I have known too many stags.' Arien responded quietly, her tone still remote. It had lost a the edge of it's coldness, but it was still far from a warm and friendly tone.
The Thoroughbred was relieved when Lazuli backed away from her. There were few things she hated more than being pushed.
The quick tattoo of hooves drew her attention and her gaze strayed to where Jubal was still prancing about Mizu. For an instant, a small smile reappeared as the colt shook his head dizzily when he stopped alongside the blue mare. It warmed her to see her young son enjoying himself.
The smile disappeared so swiftly that it would be hard to believe that it had ever been there as Arian returned her attention to the stag. Though she intended on joining a herd, she was not about to waltz after the first stag who came along. It would have to be proven that he could provide best for her and her son.

Mizu decided to direct her attention to Lazuli for a second, and what came out of her mouth was sort like this,"HiDoyouhaveaherdcauseIdon'tcaudenoone'severaskedmebutI'daccpetbutstill! WillyoubemyfriendcauseIdon'thavetoomanyfriendsbutthat'sbecauseIhaven'tmettoomanyhorsesyet."

The stag looked dismayed, backing, then halted.
I am sorry. I will do my best, but that is the best I can do. Think on it, will you not? If you don't mind, I think I will excuse myself for a tad.
He backed again, then turned and halted about three metres away, dropping his cranium to graze, but remaining focused on the femme. He had to have time to think, first.
After a brief moment and a quick snack, the stag wandered back up, appearing concerned but relaxed.
Do you have some specific concern to address? he asked, very tenatively stepping closer.

Jubal tilted his head, listening at the stream of words rom Mizu directed at Lazuli. When the stallion did not seem to respond the the blue mare's hurried run-on sentence, the colt spoke up.
'I don' have a her'.' he told her. 'But I can be's you frien'!'
His small hooves shuffled and danced in the damp grass as he eagerly awaited a response from Mizu.
Arian nodded quietly in answer to Lazuli. She could tell her cold responses had dismayed him, but she did not particularly care. What she did care about was avoiding the scenarios she'd experienced before with stags.
While the stag moved away to graze, Arian returned to watching the interaction between her son and Mizu. Unbidden, her smile returned as she watched the colt dancing about in the grass awaiting a response from the blue roan. While she watched, one ear remained swivelled in Lazuli's direction so that she could hear if he approached again.
When he did approach again, the Thoroughbred's expression became impassive once more. She was about to shrug in answer to his question, but thought better of it.
'I need to know whether my son will be safe and unharmed.'

"No,"Mizu said, with a serious face. Then, she smiled,"Because we're already friends!" She looked back to Lazuli,"Iaskedyouquestionsbutyoudidn'tanswerandI'mhopingforananswer."

Jubal looked downcast as Mizu told him no. For an instant, it looked as though Arian might strike the other mare.
The colt brightened as Mizu continued her train of thought and Arian allowed herself to relaxed a tiny bit, returning her attention to Lazuli.
Jubal also turned to Lazuli, wondering if the stud would answer Mizu's inquiry.

Lazuli stalled for thought and answered the cute youth's rambling questions.
I don't have a herd yet either, but yes, I'll be your friend.
He then looked towards the Irezu again.
I'll answer you honestly. If you and your colt were to join my herd, I'd promise the safety of you both-- and this is why don't think me selfish or untrustworthy, but it seems I might add a reason to show you that I mean what I say. As I told the youngster, I don't have a herd. As any stag would, I want a herd, and I don't plan to make it as hard on myself as possible to retain herd members. Besides, though young now, there is a possibility that your colt could grow up to be beta. I just won't stand for him having any of my mares unless I say so. That is my only stipulation. Consider my invite, extended to the both of you, and then answer me.
Lazuli took a deep breath. Honesty seemed to come easy to him, seeing as being honest caused so much less harm. He sounded much too much like a light, but his motives were true and he did wish a herd. Besides, if his herd grew as he hoped it would, and the colt remained in his herd and did not adventure off to seek the foundations of his own herd, the blue just might need a beta...

Jubal giggled at Mizu as she began jumping up and down. Grinning, he joined in, bouncing all around the blue mare.
Arian quietly studied Lazuli for several long minutes. On the one hand, his invitation to a home and safety was tempting. On the other hand, she did not like his attitude. Nor did she simply want to become yet another brood mare for some stud wishing to build up a harem. It simply was not her style. It would take a special sort of stallion to win this mare. . .
Her tone cold and remote as before, the Thoroughbred finally made answer. 'Forgive me, but I am not interested.'
