Lazuli's canter slowed long before he neared the dense forest, the haven for lovers where he and his lady could enjoy each other's company in peace. He wished not to tire himself before he had to perform the deed that the forest was reserved for. Glancing back, he nickered to Irezu.
He half-halted in a liquid dressage movement before entering-- he realized the imensity of where he now was. There were many shadows from the thick deciduous. Some of the trees had to be at least a hundred years of age, while some saplings still resided in the suprisingly dark wood. He wasn't sure how such saplings could grow in all the shadows.
He carefully made his way between the trunks and found a bit of clearing surrounded on all sides by thick wood. He entered the clearing and then waited for his lady. He was sure to stay fairly close to her, for he knew the dangers to lone faes in breeding places. Members of his own bachelor band composed those dangers, though Lazuli himself had never done such a thing to a lone ess before.
Eli's voice was very soft and sincere:
I shall not commence until you are sure you are prepared, milady.

Irezu's gait slowed as they approached the forest. It was a place she had never before visited in her life, nor had she visited similar places set aside for the purpose for which this one was reserved.
The Arab mare returned Lazuli's nicker with a soft call of her own. Her pace slowed further, to a walk. She gazed curiously about her, taking in the density of the forest she now entered. So absorbed in her study was she, that she nearly bumped into Lazuli, who had halted just before entering. Irezu managed to halt herself before that happened, suppressing an embarrassingly nervous laugh that threatened to escape her.
When he moved forward, the chestnut fae followed quietly. She quickened her pace slightly so that she would not be left alone. Like Lazuli, Irezu knew that danger lurked for a lone femme. It was one reason she had never approached such places before. Nor had she allowed any young, unattached stags in the herd she had led to take part in such a thing. Any who she suspected of trying had been swiftly disciplined.
Irezu's thoughts were brought swiftly to the present by her lord's soft voice. Allowing a little of her apprehension to bleed into her tone, she responded, 'I fear that preparedness is a state that will take me quite some time to attain.'

[ooc: great post!]
The blue roan turned to face his queen and nuzzled her shoulder softly as his banner lashed slowly from side to side. Surpisingly, there were no mosquitoes to be found, which was a great relief. A peaceful melody of cardinals, chickadees, and other upbeat songbirds comprised the background music.
Milady, take as much time as you need as long as we are here together.
Lazuli sidled closer, resting his carnation pink labium gently on her hide. He began to groom her hide as a sign of his affection rather than for any need of it.
A new thing to the both of us is this, and neither of us know quite what to expect-- but know that I love you and do not intend to harm you.
The gentle grooming strokes intensified into vigorous rubbing and spread down the length of her chisled Arabian frame. Lazuli circled at a playful prance, then came back to Irezu's shoulder and began again. A relaxed snort escaped his maw. Sure, his heart, by this time, was racing, but he intended to do nothing to frighten or worry his queen.
So have no fear-- as long as we are together, there will be no fear or shame. I wish this a pleasant memory for milady, intoxicated with not even the slightest hint of fear. We are safe now.

((Thank you! The same could definitely be said of yours ) Irezu stood in the center of the clearing. Her eyes were closed, allowing the mingled birdsong and peace of the forest to seep into her soul. Lazuli's gentle touch made things just that much more memorable. The Arab was quite certain that this was a day that would live on in memory for the rest of her days, no matter how many other times she might visit this place. As Lazuli began to groom her, Irezu pressed her trim Arab form a little closer to him. Her ears had twitched toward him as he spoke, but now they rested in a more relaxed position. She intended on doing as he suggested, allowing herself to relax as much as possible and allow herself to wait for some internal signal that would tell her that she truly was prepared. 'I do not know whether to be glad or not that I am not the only one inexperienced at this.' Irezu commented, humor coloring her tone. Irezu remained absolutely still as the gentle grooming strokes upon her chestnut pelt grew more intense. She had experienced grooming before, as would any horse residing in a herd, but most certainly never anything like this. The Arab femme watched as he moved away from her side, admiring the powerful muscles that rippled beneath his smooth chalcanthite pelt. When he returned to her, she returned the favor. She remained still, in the position she had held since entering the clearing, but wherever she could reach, she worked affectionately to groom her lord. 'I do not think I shall ever forget this day, m'lord.' Irezu said softly, sidling a little closer to the blue stag.

Lazuli allowed his frame to relax fully and continued with the affection ritual, freely accepting Irezu's grooming in return. He was unused to such a thing-- having never involved himself with faes before, so his pelt could have used a good sprucing up.
He remained silent, listening to the songbirds and chittering small animals in the trees surrounding the clearing.

Irezu's warm mahogany eyes were half-closed with sheer bliss, enjoying in the shared affection between herself and Lazuli. She moved closer still, in order to reach his chalcanthite pelt better. Her muzzle brushed over his shoulder and down his spine, working methodically to bring the sheen of his pelt to perfection.
For the first time in quite a while, Irezu was completely relaxed. She had spent so long as a leader, watching out for those under her and governing a herd that she'd not had time for relaxation. With the war that loomed on the horizon, she had not allowed herself such luxury. Though she did not wish to fight, she knew that any sign of weakness on her part could well be what drew one or the other of the Alliances to attack. Such could not be permitted.
Yet here and now, no such worries intruded. Her soul was pervaded with peace; soon, very soon, she felt she would be ready for that which she and Lazuli had come here for. But for the moment, she intended to enjoy the peace that hung like a warm, comfortable cloak over the clearing.

Lazuli allowed himself to relax as well, though suppressing the adrenaline proved to be an arduous task. He intended to wait until the ess found herself fully prepared-- but she sure was, as she had said, taking her time about it. Something Lazuli would never understand-- femmes. She had to go through complete emotional preparation as well as, or more than, physical-- something Lazuli hasn't calculated. So be it. For now, he simply groomed in silence.

Irezu knew she was taking quite some time to become prepared. But after all, this would be her very first time. Other mares might have had time to prepare their minds and hearts for this activity beforehand, but it had never occurred to Irezu that she would ever be in this place. Love had never really been something in her life. There was familial love -- the bond of family she shared with her protective elder half-brother -- but that was very different from the emotions now stirring in her soul.
Her grooming actions slowed to a contemplative brush of her muzzle against Lazuli's pelt, her thoughts on how it had been that her heart had been won. The first meeting with Lazuli had not been stellar. She knew he had thought her prideful and arrogant. It seemed rather strange that they could be here together now, coming together in love to bring forth an heir.
After a time, Irezu took a slight step back to admire her handiwork. Then she moved alongside Lazuli. Her velvet muzzle near his auds, she murmured, 'I am ready when you are.'

The blue roan breathed out a quiet sigh.
Aye, m'love... as you wish.
The stocky mustang took a second to ready his own bod before slowly circling the ess at a relaxed walk. Coming forth to her hindquarters, he let out an affectionate nicker, then playfully nipped at her locks, gently nudging them aside. He rose up gracefully, gentling colliding with the damsel's frame, throwing his fores easily along her sides, allowing them to rest securely against the chestnut barrel.
Once more, the low sound of a nicker alerted his queen to the actions of the stud now atop her.
Hardly hesitating, the brute ejected his gleaming jewel and formed the bond he had eagerly awaited. A shiver shook his bode as he began the loving ritual. Lazuli relaxed his bode fully to begin the arduous and tolling task of pleasuring both himself and the femme, withholding his seed until the first purpose had been completed.
And the deed commenced.

Irezu smiled softly in amusement, detecting relief in the sigh she heard from her lord.
The Arab watched in silence as he slowly circled her, once more admiring the powerful muscles that rippled beneath his smooth sapphire pelt. She felt his playful nip to the dark chestnut locks of her whipcord and held it to the side at his nudge. At the extra weight, she shifted slightly to brace herself.
Irezu heard his low nicker of warning, but it barely registered. Her thoughts were once more drifting. When she realized this, she quickly concluded that it was quite possible that she had not been nearly so ready as she had thought, for her thoughts wandered most when she was nervous or apprehensive. There was no going back now, though. Lazuli was already atop her and had begun the ritual that would result in an heir for the Lord of the Neutrals.

Soft lyrics of pleasure fell gracefully from Lazuli's maw as he worked to make the night enjoyable for the both of them. As the sun began to rise, a thin sheen of sweat formed on the blue's withers. Deciding his performance was satisfactory, he brought both the femme and himself to a careful peak before fertilizing her. As the moment of perfection came about, he squeezed her barrell tightly and his fores suddenly straightened and became stiff and he allowed the release of his seed within the fae, shooting the warm seed quickly up into her caves so it could flow within her until it reached the egg and seeded it, beginning the process of an heir.
Several more times he did this to ensure conception, each time elevating above the level of pleasure experienced the whole night. As he finished the last time, his smooth thrusts slowed and he eventually halted, not wanting to leave the ess's beautiful body. He remained motionless for a moment, his thick sword moving the slightest amount as the blood ran quickly through it. He then very slowly and gently removed it, backing carefully off the femme.
Excess liquids of the fae used to ease the process spilled from her opening as he removed himself, and Lazuli quickly licked them up, erasing evidence of the event until the time when his queen would begin to enlarge with foal. Lazuli hoped it would be a colt, but said nothing.
Circling to Irezu's front, he nuzzled her sweaty shoulder softly and nickered.
I hope you enjoyed this, milady.

Irezu steadied herself as Lazuli removed his weight from her. As he made his way to her front, she smiled warmly at him. The Arab returned his nuzzle and her eyes shone like stars as she responded softly, a warm tone of affection and love in her tone 'I have. This has been a night that I shall never forget.'
The chestnut fae felt weary and slightly weak-kneed, but she did not regret a moment of what passed previously. And soon enough, the results of this night would manifest in her body as her barrel began to swell with the unborn foal. But that would not happen for a time. For the present, there would be no outward reminders of the pleasure experienced this night. She wondered what the little one's gender would be. Would it be a colt, handsome and strong as his sire, with the ability to rule wisely and well when his time came? Or would it be a filly, sweet-eyed and gentle, who could learn of life from her dam? Time alone would tell. Irezu wondered what Lazuli's preference would be. Did he prefer a colt? Would he be upset if a filly was born instead? Irezu had no preference. She would love her youngling no matter the gender.
