Bella trotted along, knowing her foal was tagging at her side. Her hindquarters shifted loosely yet with strength at the same time. Her muscles rippled under her chestnut coat.
The mare lifted her muzzle to the sky and let out a glorious neigh of happiness and joy. She slowed her gait to a walk so as not to tire out Esperanza.
"This is our home. The most beautiful place in Opaque! Just be careful in the waves." Bella looked down at her foal as if to add emphasis on her warning. "The ocean is beautiful, but dangerous. Don't wander in without me or your father."
The large mare nudged her filly, smiling. She had always wanted to show Esperanza their territory, and the beauty of it.

Esperenza nodded to her mother, so whenever a wave came near her, she ran up to where the water couldn't get her, then came back down when the water went away. The filly looked at her surroundings, open-mouthed and wide-eyed, as she hadn't really been out of the foaling forest, where she was born, too much. This was amazing!

Bella took a step into the waves. She lifted her head, closed her eyes, and took in a deep breath through her nostriles. Oh, how this reminded her of her times with Lacrymosa. Especially the first time they met. Right here on this beach.
It was lovely. The mare opened her eyes so as not to lose sight of her precious filly.
"Would you like to come into the water a little, Esperanza?"

Esperenza looked up at her mother, then at the water, then back to her mother. She reached out with one hoof and stepped into the wave. It felt nice. Then, came her other hoof. Soon, she was in the water, running and splashing about.

"Just be careful, dear. I don't want you to get hurt or dragged into the ocean by the waves. The ocean is beautiful, but powerful and dangerous. You must always be careful." The mare closed her eyes tight, remembering her most recent lesson of the waves' strength and power when Lacrymosa and she were here.

Esperenza stopped and nodded. She walked next to her mother, and stood there. The ocean was kind of scary, but fun. Really fun.

Bella's hooves danced in rythm with the waves. She nudged her filly and trotted in circles around her, tail and head held high. The mare tossed her mane and bucked, keeping her legs away from Esperanza, playing in the waves. A snort escaped the mare's nostriles as she moved around with her mane and tail flowing like glorious banners in the wind.

A quiet observer watched as the Lady and heir danced about in the water. She wished to meet both, but wasn't certain whether she ought to wait to be introduced by her Lord or not. For the time being, Corinne remained at her post, content to observe the pair below her who splashed and played in the waves of the ocean, a slight smile on the sorrel-pelted Thoroughbred's maw.

Bella danced about in the waters, mane and tail now wet from the salty sea water. Her mane slapped her neck and stuck, her tail swishing and slapping against her rump. The mare lifted her dark muzzle to the sky and let out another glorious neigh, until sensing another presence.
She stopped her play right in her tracks, gazing over at another mare. Her ears pasted against her head, and she stomped a hoof angrily. She smelled like a stranger, and Bella wouldn't take it. Yet...there was a familiar smell slightly covering hers up. And then she placed it.
Lacrymosa! How could he do this? Was he cheating with this mare? Bella narrowed her eyes.
"Stay here, Esperanza," she spoke through clenched teeth. And then she galloped off towards the mare, sliding to a halt in front of her. "What are you doing here, and why were you with my Lord?" Bella couldn't keep the icy tone from her voice.

Corinne had thought herself well concealed and undetectable in her position. The young Thoroughbred swiftly realized she was wrong. Her lean body tensed slightly in preparation for the confrontation as the Arab galloped towards her.
The sorrel kept herself as calm as possible, realizing that any over-reaction on her part might cause problems that could get her kicked out.
Thinking back carefully over discussions she'd had with Lacrymosa, she realized that this irate mare must be the Lady of the Darks. Going on such an assumption, Corinne lowered her head submissively. 'I was lost a day ago. Lord Lacrymosa found me wandering about and offered a home here to me.'
Corinne peered up at the mare through long lashes, hoping she was not about to lose her place in this wonderful new land she had found herself in. 'Forgive me if I have done anything to offend.' she added in a tone that was almost a whisper.

Bella studied the mare quite carefully, though still listening to her story. The mare shook her head and looked the Thoroughbred right in the eye. "Well...he should have asked me first. It is not only his decision on who joins the herd and who does not. But...I will allow you here, I suppose." She did not completely believe her, but the Arab needed to keep her cool and not overreact before anything was proven.
"Where is Lacrymosa, by the way?" she asked curiously. She wanted to speak to him about this new mare, and why he hadn't asked her. They were Lord and Lady! They were supposed to communicate so the herd would not fall apart and the war be lost to the wretched Lights.

Corinne found it difficult to fidget under the Lady's studying, but managed to get through relating her story without any problems. She met the Arab's gaze frankly; she had nothing to hide.
'I thank you for allowing me to remain, m'Lady.' she stated, adding a graceful bow. A smile graced her expression, happy and relieved that she was not to be chased off by the Lady of the Darks.
Corinne gaze the equine approximation of a shrug. 'I do not know, m'Lady.'

"Hiyas!" Esperenza popped out from behind her mother, smiling. "Momma, who's dis?" the filly asked, staring at Corinne with a curious look on her face. She looked back up at her mother, curious look still there.

Corinne turned at the appearance of the filly. She smiled warmly at the youngling and dipped her neck in respectful greeting.
'My name is Corinne.' she introduced herself to the younger equine.

Bella nodded. "I see..." She looked down and was slightly frightened by Esperanza standing there, with a loud greeting towards the older mare. "I told you to wait back there, Esperanza!" Bella spoke with a stern and slightly angry tone. Foals were supposed to listen to their dams, no disobey and do as they felt!
The mare shook her head, trying to calm herself and not overreact. Especially not in front of a new herd member. That would be damaging. If only her temper did not flare as it did. She stamped a hoof and breathed out deeply through her nostriles, creating a loud snorting noise. Bella was still a little irritated by the ignorance of her filly.
