Bella smiled and nipped her Lord's neck, lightly of course. She stood up straight, though kept her gaze locked with his.
"Yeah, we probably would have," she nickered, gentle teasing in her tone.
There was that feeling again. The feeling that if she looked away she would fall--fall forever in deep darkness; unable to break the fall or help herself. She suddenly felt weak and feeble. The mare stumbled slightly in the water, her thoughts swimming through her head uncontrollably. Her gaze broke from her Lord's, the one things she hadn't wanted to happen.
Water splashed, and Bella's legs buckled. She thrashed for a moment before falling into the wine coloured ocean. Her gaze slowly was blackening...

"I know you would have," Lacrymosa said, his tone just as teasing as hers, albeit softer. "I may have been a little upset over the blow to my ego."
He was soaked, of course, and shivered a little as the air settled around him, evaporating the liquid and cooling him. The wet mane was plastered against his neck, and his eyes stung with the salt he hadn't closed his eyes off to in time.
But none of that really mattered when Bella fell.
His trumpheting cry was far from soft, and he could almost see the fragile wall shattering, raining its fragments down onto him and forming tiny, bleeding cuts. Small slices in his skin, stinging, but nothing compared to the pure agony that he knew would come should something happen to Bella.
The rest came blurred after that, events running together. He wasn't sure if they were in the right order, or if they were actually happening. All he knew was the panic, and all his movements were solely instinct.
A dive underwater. That was first, he knew. Struggling to position his body under hers, striving to push her up to the surface. His own lungs burning for air, but ignoring that. He could last for a few minutes longer, he knew.
He had to.

Bella's muzzle broke the surface, then, slowly, her whole head. She could barely move, though she managed a few ragged breaths of sea air. Something was pushing her to the surface. What was it? Her gaze strayed downward, only to see blackness underneath her. What was that?! And then it struck her like lightning.
Lacrymosa! He was helping her, and she knew it. If she could move, she would have made his job easier by working the water with her long legs, but she felt paralized. Slowly, the mare tried to lift her head more. Pain shot through her neck, and she let it drop. Her mane plastered to her neck and upper shoulders, her tail pasting to her hindquarters.
Bella's forelock was plastered to her forehead, and the salt water dripped from it into her eyes. Oh, how it stung! But it didn't matter. Ignoring the deep pain that shot through her body, the mare slid off her Lord's back and swam to shallow water. She walked onto the slightly soaked beach, then collapsed on her side.
That was where she lay, cringing in pain from so much movement.

The glass was settling around him, thickening, forming an impenetrable barrier on the top of the water. He wouldn't--couldn't--break through it, couldn't save his love.
That was how he felt.
The glittering sun at the top of the water was mocking him, shining down into his eyes as he struggled to keep her up. Horses weren't meant to carry one another. Supporting her, yes, he could do that. But carry her? Here, even Lacrymosa, who prided himself on his strength, doubted himself.
But in this position, he could feel her move her head, then drop it. Even in his underwater state, a soft nicker escaped him, hoping to be comforting. It was muted, and nothing but bubbles ever made it to the surface.
He was in desperate need of air. He'd have to do something soon. He would have to get Bella, somehow, to shore, but he didn't know how. He couldn't leave her in the water, though.
Still, Lacrymosa nearly panicked when she slid off of him. He was inches from her, about to shove her up again, when he realized--she was swimming on her own.
Oh.
His muzzle broke the surface, sucking in gasps of sweet, salty air even as his eyes were just coming up. His forelock was slicked back from the way he came up to the surface, and however paiful the salt in his eyes had been before, now it was much, much worse.
But he couldn't seem to care.
Instead, he dragged his oxygen-starved body to shore, his sides heaving, his movements a little more sluggish than he would have liked.
Still, he made it there.
Half-collapsing and half-lowering himself to the ground, he laid gently next to Bella, nudging her face, neck, shoulder, anything he could reach.
"Bella..." The word came out gasped, and he tried to compose himself before he spoke again. When he did, it was in a much calmer voice, with the complete and utter panic he felt just barely audible. "Bella...what's wrong? Are you all right?"
OOC: Whoo, long post! Hehe. Or just a lot of spaces. And, yes. I do use colors for my OOC.

Wow. That was really long! Haha.
BiC//
Bella's gaze strayed to her Lord. Oh, how good it was to see him. The mare managed to drag herself a little closer to him, and she nudged his muzzle many times to comfort herself, and more importantly, to comfort him.
"I...I think I'm okay. I just...felt weird. That's all..." Bella's voice was soft and quiet, full of pain and shock. She nudged his shoulder, then neck, then up to his muzzle once more. Oh, how she loved him.
He had saved her life. Pain shot through her body, and she lay rigid. No...more...movement... It was just too painful to move. Too painful. God, how she felt pitiful. Weak. Helpless.
Bella hated that feeling. Just hated it. It was the worst. When she was able to defend and help herself, she felt better. She wouldn't have to lean on others for support. And everything would be okay.
But this...this just wasn't her way of life. It was terrible. But the pain subdued her, and she lay still without another word.

OOC: I am a bad person. BAD MEG! *slaps self*
BIC:
The panic was subsiding slowly. It was torture, waiting for the terror to pass, his eyes darting over Bella's form quickly. When she spoke, he nearly collapsed with relief.
He probably was a little too rough as he nuzzled her fiercely, nipping her mane gently and nickering, the sound low and relieved. He was probably already laying too close, but instead he shifted his body closer so that their sides were touching, and his neck was draped over hers. The long curtain of his mane fell onto the sand, and he placed his neck gently next to hers. Even with this close position, he was careful not to put any weight on her neck, afraid that he might hurt her. Again.
Yes, Lacrymosa was already blaming himself for her being hurt, her life being threatened, in the first place. If they hadn't been goofing off out there...if he hadn't been charging, rearing, splashing like that...
He didn't voice the thought, although he couldn't mask the feeling in his eyes. Instead, he concentrated on Bella, frightened that something might happen to her again.
"Are you sure you're all right?" He hadn't missed the way she went rigid and lay still. The panic was rising up again, threatening to suffocate him. "Maybe you should take it easy for a while...Just relax..."

OoC// BiC// Bella's gaze met Lacrymosa's. She saw it in his eyes. How could he blame himself? He didn't have to. Her Lord had done nothing wrong. It wasn't his fault this had happened. It was hers. "I'm fine. Don't blame yourself," she nickered softly. The pain was subsiding slowly. Antagonizingly slow. But, atleast it was going away. Bella moved her legs slightly, and reached up her muzzle to rub against her Lord's. Light pain came, but it wasn't as bad as before. It wasn't hurting so much to move. "I think I can stand again," the mare whispered. Hopefully she could. If not, she would collapse again. And then she would probably frighten Lacrymosa. Again. And Bella didn't want to stress him out more than he already was. Now just wasn't the time to be doing that.

"And why not? If we hadn't been playing as we were, if I had been gentler..." But the words trailed off and died as soon as he had spoken them. Lacrymosa doubted that Bella would accept that excuse, so he let the words fade away, floating on the waves that gently reached up the beach, small tendrils of water escaping the rest and sinking into the sand.
"And you shouldn't blame yourself," he added, watching her with concern. "If I am not guilty, then neither are you. In fact, even if I am guilty, nothing you did caused this...whatever it was."
After a moment, heavy with silence, he lifted his head and neck off of hers, carefully moving away a little.
He wanted to stay laying there as he was, not letting her get up and possibly hurt herself. Again. He wanted to keep her there forever, protecting her from injury, from the war, from fighting. Keep her there for all eternity, and stay there with her. He didn't want her hurt in any way...
It was always that way, really. He always wanted to keep her safe. But just now, the urge was so much greater, so much more difficult to resist.
But Bella probably wouldn't accept that. He knew he wouldn't, and experience told him that if he could see reasons why she would hate it...well, then she probably would.
So he never made any mention of it. But it was there.
Another pause. Silence. Then...
"If you think you can stand..." His voice was heavy, worried. "Then I will try to help you, however I can." Truth be told, he wasn't quite sure how he could help. In the water, it had been pure instinct. Now she was out of danger...well...she wouldn't drown, wouldn't die. Instinct wouldn't do it. But if she fell again...
Well, that would be a different story.
Still, he stood, careful not to accidentally kick or hurt her. Positioned himself in a place where, he thought, he would be able to assist her should she need it.

Bella's legs flared for a moment as she struggled to get a steady hoof upon the ground. Carefully and slowly she planted her hooves under her, tucking her legs. Then she straightened them, and was standing. Oh, how wonderful it felt to be standing again.
It was nice. She didn't feel dizzy or anything. She felt...stable. Supported. Bella turned to her Lord and smiled. He was great. Supportive. Caring. Kind. The list could go on forever, though she didn't voice this.
The mare took a step towards Lacrymosa and pressed her muzzle against his.
"I'll be okay. I feel fine."
Her words were gentle, though they held a bitterness that she normally wouldn't have felt. Bella regreted her tone as soon as the words were out.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound so rude..." Bella closed her eyes, resting her muzzle upon her Lord's shoulder.

Lacrymosa smiled a little as Bella stood, although the smile was wary and cautious still. He took a step forward, prepared to steady her should she need it...but it didn't look like she did.
So he nuzzled her, his relief evident in both his eyes and his voice as he spoke.
"As long as you feel all right..." He began, nickering a little after he spoke. Unsure, really, of how to finish the sentence. Unsure of how to express his feelings. "As long as you feel fine..." The statement was repeated, his voice showing much more emotion than the actual words. Relief nearly drowned anything else he may have felt at that moment, colored by the love he felt for her.
Yes, there it was. As always, the same electric thrill ran through him as he thought the words.
He had noticed the bitterness in her tone, and he was a little surprised at first. Bitter? Could she be unhappy? But then he took a moment to think a little more...given the current situations, maybe it wasn't so surprising.
Finally, he managed to articulate some thought of his, although this one was completely unrelated to his previous thoughts.
"It's fine...you weren't rude. And it would be excusable if you were anyway."

The mare smiled. Her gaze was thankful and understanding. "We're both okay, that's what matters. If you would have dro-...." She couldn't finish her sentence. It would just be too terrible. The thought made Bella shiver to her core. To rid the thought, she lipped Lacrymosa's mane.
Bella gazed at him, suddenly looking tired and worn out. Her coat was drenched, though it didn't have the same wet glimmer as before. Her mane was tangly and loose, her tail the same. Even a little mud covered her.
Carefully, she stepped away from her Lord and walked into the ocean, rolling in the shallows to clean her pelt. When she stepped out, her pelt had its usual wet gleam and her mane and tail seemed perfect; as if just recently brushed.
Bella trotted to Lacrymosa and lipped his muzzle, smiling. Her gaze locked with his.
This was where she could stand...forever...

Lacrymosa smiled in return. The panic had completely resided, and he was calming down. Mostly.
But when her sentence stopped abruptly, some of his concern returned. He wasn't sure what she had been about to say, what the last word would have been. If he had dropped her? Was that what she was saying?
No, it couldn't be. Or, well, it could, but no...Lacrymosa would never...
"If you were saying, if I would have dropped you, then you should know that I would let myself drown first." And it was true. He would have stayed under the water for much longer, if he couldn't get to the surface...
"But no matter. We're both okay." He trotted after her as she went into the water, watching her carefully. Then he mimicked her motions, spraying water all over the place as he thrashed about for a moment, cleaning his own coat of sand and revealing the gleaming, wet coat beneath it.
He smiled at Bella, grateful that they were back to this.
Yes...he wished this could last forever...

Bella stopped and stood stiff.
"Of course I didn't think you would have dropped me! I was saying that if you would have drow-" once more she could not finish her sentence. It was just...just too terrible. Bella snorted and shook her head, her gleaming mane flipping slightly.
Once more she moved closer to her Lord, her hooves dancing. 'Run' her mind told her. 'Run, let him chase you. Make a game of it'
And so she did. Bella grinned, then turned sharply and galloped off along the shore line. Her black mane and tail streamed out behind her, her spirits flaring and soaring with the wind. The mare felt as though she had wings upon her back; as if she could just fly into the sky and leave her troubles behind.
Though the intelligent mare knew this could not happen. Oh well, it could be a dream.

Lacrymosa shook his head a little, letting the long, wet strands of his mane slap against his neck.
"Let's not think about that..." He muttered, giving her a tiny nudge. "You're all right, and that's what matters." Yes, it really was what mattered, too. Sticky grains of sand still clung to his coat in a few places, ignorant of his attempts to wash them off. They would remain their until he was dry, and to be honest, they itched a little. Still, he couldn't bring himself to care.
Then he started as Bella turned and began to run off. Immediately he was springing into action, turning on one hind hoof and lunging after her. Still, she had a head start, and he was far behind.
So he stretched out, the topline of his neck and body nearly making one long line, parallel to the ground, as he ran. His muzzle was out in front of him as well, his mane and tail were black banners in the wind he created himself.
Yes, this was what was needed. A game. Playing. Nothing could relax and calm a horse like a good run. Or, at least, so the Dark brute thought.
So he ran, leaving worries and troubles behind in the kicked-up sand, scrambling to catch up but failing miserably.
They would never catch the two of them, if they ran.

Bella slowed her gait to a trot, then a loose walk. She turned around, though stood on the side to wait for Lacrymosa to catch up. She had to tell him something, something every Lord should know.
When he neared her, she smiled.

I'm going to wait until you respond that he slowed then stopped next to Bella. It can be a short post, like mine. It's only because I don't want to RP your character...
