"Oh, don't you worry about this," Lacrymosa responded, putting on a mock-serious expression. "You find yourself in the presence of the master. There could be no better instructor. It will be difficult, and demanding, but perhaps eventually you will gain this necessary skill."
The black Andalusian nodded his head briefly, now taking a moment to study the mare. She was small, well, at least smaller than he, and sorrel. But physical aspects were not what the brute was looking for...even with the looming threat of war, she was choosing to stay at the Beach and support the Darks. She was offering her assistance to the Darks.
Yes...Corinne would be a welcome asset to the Darks.
"No...thank you for choosing to stay here. I, and the rest of the Darks, will surely appreciate the help."

Wearing a playfully humble expression, Corinne bowed low. 'I am grateful that you have condescended to teach me, m'Lord.'
Raising her head, she found the Andalusian was carefully studying her. The slight Thoroughbred held herself still, taking the opportunity to do a little studying of her own. Her new Lord appeared well-built and likely more than capable in a fight, which would be an important aspect in the coming war.
Corinne knew herself to be smaller than many of her peers, but she had learned while young of various methods to make up for it. She'd never let her size handicap her before, and she was not about to start that now.
Smiling, the sorrel femme answered, 'I am only glad of the opportunity to help.'

Lacrymosa grinned, prancing in place for a moment and nudging Corinne playfully. "Oh, no need for bowing," he said lightly, nudging her once more before taking a few steps away. An invitation to play.
He had noticed her inspecting him as he did the same to her, and habit found him flexing the muscles of his shoulder slightly, putting a small arch into his neck. He grinned again, still prancing a little.
After a moment he stopped, now at the edge of the water. Cold waves slapped at his hooves, occasionally splashing up his legs. Small flecks of water hit his chest, and his mane danced a little in the breeze. "Enough of this serious stuff, though, I suppose. Unless you'd like to know a little more about the war...?" He trailed off, letting the end of his question hang in the air.

Corinne responded to his nudge with a smile as she raised her head. The smile became a grin as she noted him showing off a little as she returned the favour of his inspection. She considered making a comment on that, but decided she might get herself into trouble.
Raising her tail slightly, the Thoroughbred femme playful pranced over until she was a few steps short of the water. Her smile faded slightly as she thought of a response to his question. Did she have any other questions? None that needed answering at the moment, she decided. 'Perhaps later. For now, I think I'd like to learn the art of playing in the waves.'

"Good choice!" Lacrymosa responded enthusiastically. "For, however important the war may be, what is more important than playing in the waves?" All traces of seriousness had disappeared in an instant. He gave a small half-rear, balancing precariously on his hind hooves before thumping back down to the ground gently.
"Well, then, don't be shy of the water," he then said, trotting out of the water and behind Corinne, nudging her forward gently. "Go in as deep as you'd like," he said, putting on an all-knowing attitude and prancing his way into the chest-high water. The waves were gentle at the moment, but were beginning to rise even as the Dark brute spoke. In just a short moment, they would begin to truly crash upon the sand.

Corinne needed only a slight nudge to urge her forward. Her steps were slow and cautious, but there was an eager light in her eyes. The femme gasped as she stepped into the water. 'It's cold!'
A shiver rippled her chestnut pelt, but she continued doggedly forward. She'd been the one to request "lessons" playing in the waves. Corinne was not about to back out now.

"Oh, it's not that cold," Lacrymosa teased gently, just as a rather large wave splashed up onto him. It washed over his neck, drenching his mane. "All right, so maybe it's a little chilly," he consented, shaking off roughly and sending a fountain of water in all directions.
"How far out would you like to go to begin with?" he then asked, moving at a trot towards the chestnut mare. His legs moved slowly through the deep water, making it difficult for the Dark stallion, darker with the water covering his coat, to move quickly.

'It is cold when this is the first time you've been in water that isn't a tepid little pond!' Corinne protested. She grinned as a wave washed over her Lord, then shook her head slightly. 'Slightly chilly is hardly the word I would use to describe it. Something in the neighborhood of freezing would be closer.'
The sorrel Thoroughbred eyed the water for a bit, considering an answer to Lacrymosa's question. 'Not too far yet. I'd like to get used to the waves before venturing out too deep.'
